One of the many ways you can customize your SigmaNEST experience is to add features to the Quick Access Toolbar.
While customizing the ribbon toolbar can help you organize lots of functions within their respective tabs, you might want to also add a few functions to the Quick Access Toolbar for easy access from every tab of SigmaNEST.
What is the Quick Access Toolbar?
The Quick Access Toolbar is the thin strip of icons that lines the top of the screen.
Since the Quick Access Toolbar doesn't change as you switch between tabs in SigmaNEST, it's a great place to add buttons you always want to see and have access to.
You can also choose to display the Quick Access Toolbar below the ribbon bar. To do this, click the dropdown arrow to the right of the toolbar and select Show Quick Access Toolbar Below the Ribbon.
Adding a button to the toolbar
To add a new function to the toolbar, find it on the ribbon. Then right-click it, and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar. Buttons appear on the toolbar in the order that you add them.
SigmaNEST contains dynamic buttons, meaning that what you see as the “main button” may change based on your latest selection. The Import Button displays this. When adding functions to the Quick Access Toolbar, be sure that you add the static button, using the dropdown, rather than the dynamic button (if you do not want the Quick Access Toolbar to act as a dynamic button.
Note: Many functions in SigmaNEST also function as a dropdown (for example, DXF Import). If you don't want to add the whole dropdown to the Quick Access Toolbar, make sure to select the function from its dropdown, if available.
Removing a button from the toolbar
To remove a button from the toolbar, right-click it and select Remove from Quick Access Toolbar.
You can also quickly remove multiple functions by clicking the dropdown arrow to the right of the toolbar and toggling the ones you want to remove. Using this removal method leaves any removed functions in the list so that you can toggle them back on again later.
Use case for customizing the Quick Access Toolbar
If you're training a new user or your jobs are always processed similarly, you could add the functions you use in the order you use them to streamline the process and make things simpler.
For example, in the image below, the user added the following buttons:
DXF Import | New Task | Nesting Parameters | Auto Nest | Auto NC | Post All | Print | Save Workspace
This makes it much easier to remember what comes next in the sequence, and also makes the process go a little faster (especially if your process is fairly straightforward).
(Advanced) Moving Quick Access Toolbar settings between computers
If you are setting up a new computer and want to transfer your Quick Access Toolbar settings, you can copy the MainForm.ini file over to the new computer.
To find the file, go to Tools Help tab and click File Manager > INI Folder. Copy MainForm.ini and transfer it to your new computer, then add it to that computer's INI Folder.
Note that this will overwrite the MainForm.ini file on the new computer. So if you've made any changes to the Quick Access Toolbar, those changes will be lost.
